Tooth extraction was created by Dutton1888
Hi , my 16 year old has been diagnosed with ITP for almost 2 years now. He has saw his dentist today and been told he needs a back molar removed . He has never had a platelet count above 50 . Does anyone know the procedure ? The dentist is taking advice for heamotologist. Would really like to know what happens is these situations.
Thanks
Elaine

They usually say above 50 for tooth extraction. Any treatment like IVIG or a short course of steroids would usually be used to get the count up. Your haematologist would treat for this.
