I have had itp for going on 4 years we have tried n-plate injections for 3 years but they stopped working the way they should they now want to remove my spleen. I do not agree with what the doctor wants to do. Has anyone refused?

I don't know about teens, but plenty of adults on this site have refused splenectomy, as well as a wide variety of other extreme treatments. Read everything you can on this website, so that you can demonstrate the strength of your convictions. Make sure you have a second opinion from a hematologist who specializes in ITP. Splenectomy is forever!

Counts in the 50's are perfect while using N-Plate. The drug isn't meant to induce normal counts and if it does, the dose should be lowered.

If your goal is remission, there are other options to try, such as Rituxan.
