It has been a while since my last post. My son's ITP has been in remission for the last year and a half. Platelet count is stable 100+ without any medication. 4 weeks ago, after consult with his hemo and with a platelet count 133K, we decided to let him take the Pfizer vaccine. Two weeks after his first shot, his platelet rose slightly to 137K. But WBC dropped from 5+ to 3.24 and ANC from 3+ to 0.62. Today at 4 weeks post first shot, we went back to hemo for a repeated CBC, platelet went up to 177K (this is the highest since his ITP diagnosis without any medication). Unfortunately his WBC and ANC dropped further to 2.65 and 0.49. Hemo finally called off the second vaccine shot and said not to get it. For now, he will watch and wait and ask us to go back for another CBC in a month. Does anyone here experience neutropenia after your vaccine here? Thanks.
