Hi Good people,
Well Mia got a really good run from her first round(s) of Rituxan -- 8 amazing months. But she's recently crashed (10K yesterday). We acted quickly and got right back in for a new round of rituxan because now she has her period to cotend with (that came for the first time during her remission).
She is discouraged, of course, but we are trying to just fold it into the rhythm of life. ITP is clearly here to stay in one form or another for her. We are really lucky sh eis not a "bleeder" -- even at 10K she has only a few bruises; the main complaint is bone crushing fatigue -- and that she responds to things.
Will let you know how it goes - and If any parent out there wants to talk about rituxan, I am happy to share our experience thus far.
I've been on the fb pdsa site more often these days for some reason - I guess just easier -- but I'm sending best wishes and high platelets to everyone here!!
Firkins (mom of Zoe (15) and Mia (13). Mia has ITP. Diagnosed 3/2012.
