Of course you, and Cathy too, are talking about your Mom - you will do that forever and that is good, Mom lives on in both of you! It has been a long time since my Mom died and I still talk about her and to her. I bet your Mom is smiling that you have Gerry in your living room window - that is cute! With my stepmom living in another state I'd send her pictures of her Great Grands all the time - a couple weeks ago I took a photo of our Grands thinking I'd send it to "Mom", of course I couldn't so I emailed it to my stepsister and told her why she was getting it

I really am happy for you that you are going back to you happy place - you deserve that, you need that and you have to know that your Mom is glad you are there too taking those beautiful photographs and hiking.

On the days we had someone to stay with her and we would go out, I'd take my camera with me. When we'd get home and I was downloading the pictures mum would ask how many I took that day. Depending on how many it was, I'd get an "oh, Cindy! Why so many?" So now when I do that, I still tell her how many.
At my nephews birthday, I took 65. Most of those are before my sister and family arrived. My brother was already there and had grabbed our table, so he was off fishing. I can see mum shaking her head at me!

I love that you still tell your Mom how many photos you took on an outing - that is great! Yep, she's probably shaking her head over the 65 you took at your nephew's bday! :)

Yep, I can see her shaking her head. Most of those 65 were the geese and ducks.

Thanks, Mel.  Cathy and I have been spending more time together.  It started out as a chance for us to talk about mum and now it's because we like to get out together.  I still tell mum how many photos I take on these walks and I can just see her shaking her head at me!

It is great you and your sister have a renewed relationship.  Smiling at your Mom shaking her head - she looks forward to hearing the # of photos :)

With 11 years between us, we got close after she had her son.  And we've been close since then. Even though I'm older, she's the protective one!  When my niece was a toddler she liked to climb all over me.  With my ITP, Cathy would tell her to be careful.  I just said, if I bruise, at least I know where it came from.
If Mum was interested, I would show her some of the pictures I took.  She found the goslings cute and liked to see their growth.

You know, I'm protective of my older sister too - she has always been someone I've looked up  to and I love her to pieces!!
Will you get together for Christmas?

Depends on Covid.  Our case numbers keep rising, and the Government has put out some new restrictions.  So far, getting together for Christmas is still possible. But if things change, we go into a phase 2 where things get restricted more and if we go into phase 3, everything goes into total shut down again.
If that happens, I hope that at least my brother can go to Cathy's for Christmas.  At Thanksgiving, single people living alone could be in a one family bubble so he got to enjoy Thanksgiving.
The other issue we're having is my niece and her boyfriend aren't vaccinated and neither is my sister's boyfriend. I don't know if my nephew has gotten his second shot yet or not.
Truthfully, I'm not looking forward to Christmas anyway.

Just a little bit on covid - with the new variant I wouldn't knowingly be in the same room with someone who isn't fully vaccinated; for 1) I wouldn't be happy that they were doing that to me, if they want to get sick fine but don't take me with you - and for 2) I just would not be comfortable even if they are masked!!

My fully vaccinated son, a couple days shy of getting the booster, came down with covid a couple days after his young son, who was just a couple days shy of getting his 1st vaccine.  The time-line indicates his son got it from school - luckily the other 2 in the family didn't get it. My son said it was hell, but thankfully the vaccine did its job & he had no lung or heart involvement & no hospital stay or intubated and he is alive!!!

A cake baker at my grocery store got covid in Feb - still didn't get vaccinated and caught it again in May, this time from her daughter who visited, and she got it worse and was in the hospital 3-4 months and she still is having lung/breathing problems.

Take care Cindy!!!

I hear you, Mel!  That is something we're wrestling with!  We want to be with family for this first Christmas without mum.  In one way we were ok with not joining Cathy and the fam at Thanksgiving because of the 3 who aren't vaccinated. Did find out yesterday that my nephew did get his second dose. But I really don't want to miss Christmas!
Right now, as far as I know, the new variant hasn't been discovered here in my city, but it is in the country.  I have a feeling though that we will be in another lock down by Christmas.  Our numbers keep going up.  I read yesterday that in our hospital alone, there are 39 covid patients and 16 in the ICU.
I just don't understand why people won't get the vaccine!  I do get where my niece was coming from in not getting hers, but now that has been debunked, so there really isn't any excuse for either her or the boyfriend to not get them.
We'll keep an eye on the situation and go from there.

Hope you had a good Christmas Cindy!

Our 9 yr old grandson got covid the beginning of Nov thanks to the school district going back & forth on whether masks were mandatory in schools [his parents have him wear masks, even when attending karate classes] - he was supposed to get his 1st vaccine when the symptoms showed up, he then gave it to his Dad who got symptoms before he was to get his booster, neither sister or mother got it - both well and back to normal now.  But their family all took the home tests just to be safe before we went to their house, bless their hearts - to our 12 year old vaccinated granddaughter she probably is tired of things being stuck up her nose, she said since going back to school in 2020 she has had to have 9 covid tests due to cases in the school.

Hope you did too, Mel!
We did.  It was weird, tho.  We did go out to Cathy's and had a good dinner.
I have no decorations up because I really didn't feel like doing anything.  Plus, we don't have room!  And no snow! I like a bit of white stuff for Christmas, then it can go away!
The whole family of mum's nurse (when she was in the hospital in 2017) spent Christmas with Covid.  One of her granddaughters might have picked it up at school.  We are going through the same thing here, some kids have to wear masks and some don't. The lower grades 1 to 6 got to start their Christmas break a week early due to cases in our schools.
I'm not a big fan of the Premier of our Province, but I'm glad I'm not in his shoes.  Back when our cases were really low, people wanted everything opened and back to normal, so he gave them what they wanted. Now, we're in worse shape than we were when the whole Covid crap started!
The "experts" are predicting over a thousand cases a day by the end of the year, and with NYE coming, I can see that happening!
Cathy and I are going out for our weekly walk today, so there should be some pictures up tomorrow!

Glad you were able to get to Cathy's for Christmas!

It just does not make sense why people will not mask and distance and behave - if they had from the start things probably would be a lot different.  So sad that people die because they believe it is a hoax, or the vaccine will put things in their blood stream to track them [yep, I know someone who wont' get for that reason] and so on.

Hope you and Cathy got out for you walk - going to go see if photos are up.

It really is ridiculous!  Going through Face book and I see laughing faces under some posts about the virus and I just shake my head.
These same people who say they won't get because they don't want to be tracked, probably don't realize they're being tracked by their phones!
What's going on here right now is about the only thing that I'm glad that mum isn't here. Steven and I would be allowed in to see her, but my brother and sister wouldn't
People are upset that the NHL isn't going to the Olympics (I don't think they should have been anyway, it's for the kids) and the World Juniors. I guess I'm more concerned with the health and welfare of the players than others.
Yup, we got out!  It was a beautiful day.

I really enjoy taking them!  We've had some snow the last couple of days, and the trees around us really look nice. It's flurrying right now and we have to take a run out to get some things so I may take some quick shots when we get home.
