Moving was created by CindyL
Well, we finally have a place to move to! There was a screw up with the other place we were supposed to get.
The new place is going to be cheaper. But unfortunately, we won't have internet for a bit after we get moved in so I will be away from the site for a while.
Mum continues to do well in the nursing home. Loves it when the nurses bring a turtle dove bird in to see her. We got to see the bird in person last Thursday during our visit. The home also has a cat, which mum said she finally saw.. We saw pictures of it with the bird and the cat is really pretty.

Cindy I was just thinking that it wouldn't be long until you move - sorry this new place won't have internet, we will miss you lots!!
When is the big move?

How neat a turtle dove comes to visit Mom and the rest - and there is a cat at the nursing home, what a kick! Glad she finally saw the cat. I had visions of having our granddog Dutch the Boxer being a visiting dog, but she would just get too excited - she was a love, oh she was a dear - but she was too excited to see people to be a visiting dog.

All right you take care - look forward to seeing you again after you get internet!!

We have to be out of here on the 31st. It's going to be tight, getting out of here. Another family on our floor is moving out too. I've been packing like mad, but still have a ton to do.
I think being without internet, at least for a while, will be good for me. I'll be relaxed. I don't even start doing the things I need to until early afternoon 'cause I'm on the computer. I really need to get off my butt and start earlier!
Mum loves seeing the bird. If they bring it when she's talking to us, we have to let her go so she can pay attention to it!
Yeah, we had a husky/shepherd mix who wouldn't have made a good therapy or visitation dog.

Glad your mum seems settled. I know what you mean about the computer . I have started putting mine away in a cupboard regularly so i actually get things done.
I hope the move goes well Cindy. Hurry back and let us know how you are when you get back online.

I'll be so glad when this move is over! Trying to pack up two households isn't easy! I just hope my brother and sister can take the things they are supposed to get when mum passes. Besides this place being too big for two, I really don't want to stay here without mum. It isn't home.
On a side note, we are booked to get the Astra/Zeneca vaccine on the 24th. Steven and I are involved with our local EMO, (Emergency Measures Organization) which is why we can get our shots now.

Moving is the worst, ugh, and "double" moving sounds even more challenging! Hang in there Cindy and definitely come right back once you get settled in your new place. Congrats on getting your vaccine appointment, yaaaaay! Definitely keep us posted with how you do afterwards!

Know what you mean about too much time on the computer - that's one reason I don't have ancestry on my iPad just the desk top. I don't come to the desk top as often as I used to but when I was deep into family research I could get on at 7 in the morning waiting for the 30 minutes after taking thyroid med and then all of a sudden it was noon.

Packing up is no fun - I do not like seeing my life in boxes. When we moved overseas we had to pack for 3 events - items to go into storage, items to go on the slow boat and items to go air - that was the pits! 2 households would be just as bad. Good luck!

So you get what I'm going through! When Cathy and I started going through mums things, we had 3 boxes set up. Hers, our brothers and mine. Unfortunately, I really have no idea what he may want, other than what is in mums will. Now, with us moving, everything is just getting packed and we'll sort through the boxes later.

I'm still stressed, but not as much. A friend of ours came on Saturday and helped get some of the bigger stuff out. Said he'd help next weekend, but called this morning to say he'd been in an accident and the truck was out of commission. It was in a parking lot, so even though it wasn't his fault, he'll get dinged too. The main thing is, he's okay. There must have been frost on the outskirts of the city, and the idiot didn't clean his wind shield.

Nice of your friend to help out - sorry to hear about his accident in a parking lot, thankfully he is ok. Would be nice if he got phone photos of the guys icy windshield!

How is it going - you doing better?

Not too bad. Can't wait for this move to be over, tho! Sorting things to go to my brother, sister, storage and to the new place isn't easy.
We won't be without internet for long. We are scheduled to be hooked up on the 3rd of April. I can use those 2 days without it to unwind and finish working on a couple of craft projects I have on the go. I'm making some Eastery for mum that I want to get finished and over to the home. They hold everything for 24 hours before giving to the resident. The other is for a friend who is a bid Montreal Canadiens fan and lives in another city.
On a side note, we got our shots today and so far no issues. I did get a bit of a metallic taste, similar to what I get when I go to Nuclear Med for a test. I mentioned it to the nurse who gave me the shot. Didn't notice if she recorded it. She did say she hadn't heard that one before.
We see our doctor Friday, so I'm going to ask for a blood test and see if my counts moved.
Thanks for asking, Mel!

The cop who responded to the accident probably saw that the windshield wasn't cleared. Haven't heard from our friend so don't know how he or the truck are.

So glad you 2 are doing well after the shots today!! Someone else told me they had a metallic taste after their shot - believe it was a moderna shot but can't recall who told me. Will be interesting to find out your count Friday.

Won't be long till you get moved - glad you won't be off-line too long, don't get back on till you get those projects finished :)

Steven is saying his arm is a bit sore. I did go to bed last night feeling a little sick to my stomach. Feel better today.
I work on the projects in the evening to unwind. Without tv and internet, I'll be able to work on them through the day too.

Thanks, mrsb! Me too!
We've put a lot in storage, but still have lots to get out. It's getting to the point, things are going to just go into bags and boxes and hope we can find it later.
The only good thing about this move is, we will be getting our damage deposit back. They'll be in here first thing Thursday morning tearing the place apart and getting ready to renovate it. So we don't have to do as much to clean up.
I find it weird that we have to be out of here tomorrow, but as far as I know, we won't get into the new place til Thursday. And there is someone else moving out tomorrow and will have one elevator locked.
Internet should be back up and running on Saturday. Looking forward to those couple of days of relaxation!

Hi, mrsb! It was interesting to say the least!
Wednesday was really rough! Up early, more packing and waiting for help to move.Long story short, I saw the new place for the first time at 12:30 that night!
Still trying to straighten things out.
I'll be back in a bit to continue. Gotta have breakfast.
Okay, I'm back! Breakfast is going to be a bit of a delay, so technically, we'll be having brunch!
Thursday was spent opening boxes looking for things we really needed, like our daily pills and the cat food. I'm grateful for the help we had, but too many hands putting things not where we wanted them to go. My brother and brother in law are both alpha males and towards the end, I think they were just putting stuff where ever they wanted. Stuff that was supposed to come here must be in storage and stuff that was supposed to go to storage is here! We're planning an Easter dinner for today, but I haven't found any roasting pans! So dinner may be tomorrow instead. Our local dollar stores carry tin foil pans and we'll just go pick one up tomorrow.
It's interesting sorting things out, that's for sure!
We got internet back yesterday and I did log onto this site briefly but was too tired to post much.
Any other time we've moved, we've been able to move things in a bit at a time. This time, we had to wait for this tenant to move out.

How are things going Cindy? Are you settled in? Do you know where everything is ;)

We are still getting winter weather here. Got to uncover plants and now today I've covered them up again because we will be getting below freezing temps again and rain/snow called for this week :(

Calling the eye surgeon tomorrow to set and appointment for exam that's required before cataract surgery - my eye doctor said mine are prednisone caused, but at my age who knows.

mrsb, how are you?

mrsb, how are you?
Mel
I'm OK thank you. We are going through a very chilly spell with temperatures below zero at night. Most annoying as I am trying to get on in the garden. After being stymied last year due to wrists accident it needs quite a bit of work to finish my plan. All the frogspawn in the pond has frozen so be interesting to see if it turns tadpoles. Grandkids will be disappointed if it doesn't.
UK has entered its second phase of lifting the Covid lockdown. Today we will have a full market for the first time in absolutely ages which will please youngest son as he is the town's market manager. On Thursday I am going to a pub for a pint of ale. Well actually at this stage we have to sit outside pubs so I hope its not a really cold day.

Cindy I hope you are doing well and haven't lost your favorite plate/cup/pot/etc. Something always seems to go missing during a big move!

I hope your eye appointment goes well Mel. Prednisone is a stinker, wreaking havoc for years to come. I have started getting some infrequent eye issues, so I will probably be going to an ophthalmologist at some point. Promacta can cause eye issues along with Prednisone, so I expect after a lifetime of on/off pred and 2 years on Promacta I'm sure to end up with something going on. Now Doptelet thrown into the mix, lol. Gotta love all the medicines.

Fingers crossed that the exam will be uneventful and that everything will go smoothly with your surgery.

Europe really got zapped with this last cold spell. I hope your tadpoles survive the deep freeze.
I'm so glad to hear that things are going well otherwise. Worrying signs that we are losing our race with some of the variants in Michigan. I hope we can up our vaccination rates or maybe take a page from your book across the pond and spread out our first and second shots to get more people moving along with first shots.
Enjoy your pub visit and I'll hope for a nice warm spring day for you when you go!

Hey, Mel, we're settling in! Finding out that stuff that should have come to the new place are down in storage (and no idea where!) and vice versa. Although it is very small, for one person or 2 skinny people (not us) it does have potential. I did insist on some things that are valuable come here like my cedar chest , which was my grandmothers, and some of mum's jewlery; her wedding rings and family for instance.
But because of the move, we had a bit of a scare last Thursday. We went to our local service center to change our address on our driver's licenses and the car. Didn't have what we needed to do that, so we left. On that Saturday, our Government posted a possible exposure to Covid around the time we were there. We had gone to see mum that night, and I had spent some time with my sister and a friend Sat. afternoon. So I called them both and told them what was going on. There was a security guard taking names and phone numbers, this goes on at most public places and even restaurants are doing it. We figured if we had been exposed, we'd have gotten a call. We didn't go anywhere on Sunday still waiting for a call. Yesterday, we called our Tele-health center to ask questions. The nurse Steven spoke to said if we hadn't been called by then, we were good to go. Just keep an eye on any symptoms we might develop. This is exactly why we don't like going out! The thought that we might have exposed my mother's home to this scared the shit out of us! Or my sister and friend.
mrsb, glad you're doing okay. Enjoy your pint! Have one for me. We aren't comfortable going into bars, right now. Our cases are on the rise again and now there have been 2 confirmed cases of the South African strain here. Our Province was one of the best places to be back when this whole pandemic started. Even just a couple of weeks ago, our numbers were in the single digits, now they're in the triple numbers.
Hope you get back to the garden soon!
