Mum went into the nursing home 4 weeks ago today. Hard to believe it's been that long! And we went into lock down the day after, so we haven't been able to really see her. Her room is on the ground floor, so we can (and do) go stand outside her window and wave at her. She has her phone, so I call her every night and as long as the phone is within reach, we can talk to her.
She sounds so much better than she did when she was in the hospital. She does seem to be settling in well. And she is definitely eating better! Unfortunately, her memory seems to be getting worse and her hearing.
We will be giving our notice here at the end of Feb.

That's so good she is doing well at the nursing home!!

My stepsister can't go to my stepmom's window right now - if there isn't snow on the ground then it is a muck & mud & water and just can't walk to her window. Glad you are able to do do!

Has she gotten her covid vaccine yet? My stepmom got the 1st shot last week.

We had a snow storm here yesterday and when I was talking to mum last night, she said my brother took his own shovel and dug a path to her window. Which I can totally see him doing! We went out on Sunday and it was mucky, but so worth it to see her! Once the nicer weather gets here, she will probably see all of us at the window. At least until we can get back in.
The number of cases here in my city have dropped, so we're hoping we'll be allowed back in soon.
I'm not sure about the shot. The staff was supposed to get theirs last weekend. Or the weekend before, I can't remember. We did have to give the home permission to give it to her. Next time I call the nurse's station, I'll have to try and remember to ask.

He's there every day, no matter what the weather. And once the nicer weather comes, we'll probably be there more often too.
Found out yesterday that the staff and residents in the home will start getting their shots next week. So happy about this!
We all showed up for Valentine's Day and my sister and brother had stickers for her window for the day. Next up will be St. Patty's day.
I think we've found a new place. One of our hotels went out of business and has been converted into "apartments". Basically, one room and a bathroom. For the price of the rent, everything is included, except phone. So once we get approved, we'll be giving our notice here and will have to be out by the end of March.

Mum got her first Pfizer shot this morning! When we talked to her after supper, she said she felt fine. We told her to tell the nurses at once if she felt funny in any way shape or form.
The staff got their shots this afternoon.

We haven't heard when we'll get our shots. But I'm glad mum got hers.
Got an email a little bit ago saying the home is opening back up for scheduled visits so we'll be going to see her next Thursday!

We can't wait! We're not telling her in case something happens and we can't make it. It will be a big surprise for her when she sees us.
Not sure yet when my brother and sister will get to see her in person.

Really pleased for you Cindy, my biggest regret is not being able to visit Dad as he was so far away.

I wish I could remember how to share pictures here. Last week my brother built mum a snowman and yesterday he turned it into Mickey Mouse. It was/is so cute and mum loves it!
Today is my baby sister's 50th birthday, so we're all meeting at mums window and sharing cupcakes.
Oh, trust me, I will let you all know how it goes!
mrsb, I felt so bad for you and can't imagine how that felt. it was so hard not seeing her while she was still in the hospital. I'm so glad we can stand at her window and talk/see her.

That is so cute what your brother did!! Yes, you are fortunate to be able to see your Mom even if from a window.
Have fun celebrating your baby sister w/a window visit to Mom and cupcakes all around!

It was so cooooollllldddd but so worth it! Even my niece and her boyfriend came. Mum was happy.
I let my sister and her daughter stand close to the window so they could talk. It's funny, but it always seems to be my phone that we use to call her.
Going through my Facebook page last night, lo and behold there was a picture of my mom smiling and enjoying her lunch from one of our popular take-outs! We haven't seen her look this good since all this stuff started!

We did.
And once the real nice weather comes, she'll probably see us more often!
There's talk that if our March break goes well, we'll go back to the yellow phase. That would mean that my brother and sister will be able to visit inside. It would still just be once a week, but we'll take it!

Thanks for the update Cindy! I'm smiling imagining how happy she must have been to see you all. So glad that you were able to make it happen in spite of the cold. After a difficult time, it's wonderful to hear stories of people rebounding and feeling some joy again.

Oh, and masks are worn!
Cathy is in my bubble as she's been helping me go through mum's things. My brother is very social distancing conscious so he keeps his distance.

We had a great visit with mum! She was so surprised to see us, she wanted us to pinch her!
We were with her for just over an hour, but she was getting tired and paying more attention to the roomie's tv.

She was certainly surprised when she looked up and saw us! Last night it was just my hubby and me as we were/are her primary care givers and next of kin.
I'm not sure when my brother and sister will get in to see her. But we are going back to yellow Sunday at midnight, so I imagine they'll be able to visit next week whenever there is an opening.
