Just heard on our local news that we may get some snow showers this coming Thursday - will have a low of 30 that day and on Friday a low of 32.
Really not looking forward to winter!

Yeah, I hear ya! Northern parts of NB got some snow this week and here in Saint John, we could have the crappy white stuff by Oct. 8. I'm with you, so not ready for winter!

Those that can't stand temp extremes seem to end up in california where the weather is quite modest. Some call it 'paradise' as Don Henley, of the band Eagles, would say.

As he said. Call some place paradise, and sure enough, you can kiss it good bye. Just look at the drug problems california has become plagued with.

I do remember growing up and living in Michigan. The summer, with temps above 90, lasted about two weeks. But those two weeks were fantastic to behold. All the grasses and trees did all their growing and budding during those brief summers. It was glorious to see it happen.

And now they are predicting 27 for a low Thursday [overnight Wednesday]. Hope you don't get that nasty s-word stuff Cindy!!

I live in God's Country Hal - really we have perfect weather, we don't like people to know that most snow melts and the sun comes out the same day. Summers may be hot but mostly the nights are decent, but still need a/c.

So far so good, Mel! I really hate this time of year. One day it's cold as heck, the next, it's hotter than hell. Today is foggy and muggy and warm. No wonder people get sick a lot this time of year. I'm willing to bet we'll have that nasty ol' white stuff by Halloween!

Cindy we had our 1st frost last night - awoke to frost on the roof, the cars, the dead tomato plants, Halloween decorations etc. Thankfully I listened to the weather-guessers [that's what I call them] and covered the mini-rose plant. We usually have had a frost before now, sometimes even snow before now - in the past Halloween has nasty weather, only time will tell this year. We don't get the humidity you all get though. You are right - with the hot & cold weather this time of year it drives our bodies crazy. I got my flu shot on Thursday - want that kicked in before I have knee replacement & a night in the hospital.
Also taking Elderberry Syrup and extra vitamin C trying to stay healthy.

PS - Overnight low Tuesday to be 26 with a high Wednesday of 78 - crazy!!

We did have frost a while back, but outside the city. I don't have to worry about plants, I can't even keep an aloe vera plant alive!
We get our flu shots at our next appointments.

You made me smile when I read about the aloe vera plant - I ended up being able to keep one alive for 2 months, I only watered it a little bit 1x a week. Usually with house plants if they see me coming the roll over & pretend to be dead so I won't buy them.

Weather-guesser is saying tomorrow 80 and Thursday 2-4" of snow.

Mel, the first one I over watered, the second I under watered and can't remember what I did to the 3rd. My sister got the green thumb in our family. My mom can't keep plants either.
Mrs. B, I live along the Bay of Fundy so it's usually colder. Today is cloudy and warm. The expression here in Canada is, if you don't like the weather, wait 5 minutes and it'll change.

mrsb it sounds like a lovely day! I do prefer 80 & 90s F though - love the heat.
Cindy the expression here is if you don't like the weather just wait a few minutes and it'll change :)
And if you want to know what the weather is look out the window - with the mountains at our west we get a lot of
missed forecasts.

Thankfully not California!!!

Yesterday it was 83 - today awoke to 21 degrees and before long it was snowing and 19 degrees. Oh joy (NOT)!

Cloudy here today with rain forecast for the weekend.
We get out 3 days a week when mum has some one to stay with her and I've been following a goose family. Time to go see if they are still here or if they've headed South yet.

Our temp went from 85 on Tuesday to a low of 19 yesterday, cloudy & snow - this mornings low was 9 & a record breaker.
The coming week will be in the very low 70s. Crazy weather!!

Cindy that is nice you get out 3 days a week for yourselves - very important for a caretaker! Was the goose family around
or have they headed south [further south than here :) ]? I'm hoping the cold weather will get the magpies out of here - they aren't very nice.

I didn't get out yesterday; had laundry to do. Monday is our next day out, so even though it's a holiday, I think we'll take a run up to Rockwood Park and check. We first saw the geese back in May. Mama, Papa and 5 goslings. It was fun to "watch" them grow up. Now they all look the same.
Cloudy here today. But no rain so far.

We had quite a bit of snow a few weeks ago and it is still hanging around. Also minus temps - we didn't have Fall just went straight into winter.

Here in the UK we are having torrential downpours causing severe flooding in various parts of the country. Apparently, according to our met office, rain is made when cold Canadian air meets hot Caribbean air at the gulf stream. Said rain then gets delivered along the stream to us.

We could use some moisture but not in the form of rain like you mrsb or snow like you Christine! A nice little rainfall overnight would be appreciated (picky aren't I :) )

Mel, yeah, got up on Monday. The geese were still there with a few extras! They were out in the middle of the lake, so really couldn't get any decent shots of them. The last time we went up, they weren't there. Probably go back on this Monday coming to check on them.

Think the geese were staying in the middle of the lake just to tease you ;) I'm surprised they didn't come to see if you had some food for them. Hope you can get back there, sounds like a neat place.

We miss the Mallard couple were were visiting us in the spring and early summer - they are so cute. Maybe next year they will be back.

Days have been ok and nights cold - we are in for more snow tomorrow night into Thursday morning with a high Thursday of 30. Not looking forward to that. Thursdays are the day we pick up the grandchildren from school so stand outside until the bell rings and they come out.

We don't feed the ducks or the geese usually. We keep bird seed in the car. There were a lot of people around the lake that day, so we figured that was why the geese in in the middle. If you go on Facebook, there's a photography page called Nature's Wonders Photography. There are some pictures of the geese on there. (And some other pics.)
I can't remember how to post pictures here, or I'd share some.
Days are still relatively nice here with nights getting cold. Rain is expected tomorrow.
During the winter, we see a lot of deer up at Rockwood Park, so that's usually what I take pictures of.

Snow started Sunday morning - had 2 Mallard couples in our backyard, guess they forgot to fly south ;) Total of 6" - now tonight should be a low of 9, 6-12" tomorrow and tomorrow night a low of 7. Is summer around the corner yet??!!

No snow here yet. Rain coming for Halloween. Even our Fall colors are kind of drab this year. Went out to one of our favorites picture taking spots yesterday, and the trees are all pretty much bare. We had a wicked wind storm come through a week or so ago and lost a lot of leaves then.

This is our little secret, the page is mine. I have some more pics to put up. We stopped at the spot where the family of geese usually is but they weren't there. Thanks!

Cindy seriously that is you, those are your photos??!! WOW - I am so impressed, you are amazing!! My dad had been a professional photographer but then that really didn't feed a family so he had to give it up - I have some of his photos matted & framed, they are so special!

Thanks! i just dabble. On the days Steven and I go out, I usually have my camera with me. Weird things catch my eye. We joke about how many pics I do take when I download them off my camera. I can take anywhere from single digits up to 90 or so. Yesterday, I only took 40 :lol: I will be putting some of them up on that page.
I have two of my earlier deer pictures framed on our wall. We did one on canvas and it looked really good. A friend of ours was raising money and looking for donations for an auction, and I donated it to her. If I framed the pictures I liked, there wouldn't be any space left on our walls!

Well I am really impressed - you have artistic talent that's for sure. So glad you are sharing your photos on the fb page!!
So you take those with a digital camera? I remember my Dad taking photos - this was after he was no longer in the business - he had made a dark room in our basement and I loved going in there with him. I loved the red light and the smells & being with my Dad.
