There are a submit and cancel tab, but no preview.

And another thing, why are the topics still showing old posts as new? Or is it just me that sees that?

Are there really 10,124 guests at this site right now??

No, I don't think that is the case. I believe there are problems with that statistic, so I removed it from the site.

Then he will know it is for him and people will know where to ask questions of him. The name of this thread really doesn't imply that.

I have another question - something is missing. When I start a new thread or make a reply the Preview button is missing. Unless I just don't see it.

In the menu bar of icons near the top of a new message or reply you will see two icons. When you place your mouse on these icons they will say "Preview Pane Below" and "Preview Pane Right". Click one of those and it will allow you to preview your message as you write it.

How it is supposed to work is that it shows you a "New" icon anytime there is a new post within a particular thread. Let me know if it is not working that way and I will try to look into the problem. Many of these features have default settings for turning them on and off, but to modify how they work takes custom programming, which takes time and incurs a cost.

Thanks, Jeff

Thank you Jeff, for both answers. Never thought to check the icons in the menu bar [so hard to teach an old dog new tricks ;) ]. And boy I was thinking with all those guests at the site ITP isn't as rare as it used to be.

Appreciate your help!

don't know if this had been mentioned cuz I haven't read all 7 pages of posts! but for me, the tabs on top that say Index, Recent topics, new topic, no replies etc, etc. Aren't lined up right.

Don't know what you did, Jeff, but things are back to normal; only the actual number of new posts is beside the topic. Thanks! Now I know what I've read and not read.

Sorry, but no matter what I do I can't seem to change the color of the light blue font. In the future perhaps we will try another color scheme entirely. For those having trouble reading that font, try adjusting your monitor's brightness or color settings and see if that helps.

Thank you, Jeff

This really is getting frustrating!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Just now it took me several times trying to log on here and on the main page before I finally was able to get logged in.

This is a major problem - if someone cannot log in after trying once or twice they are going to get ticked off and not come. It should not take many many tries to log on before FINALLY getting in!!!!!!!!

And if per chance you are able to log on via the main page it then takes you to your own profile and then you have to click on the discussion group. That shouln't be - you should be able to log on here, period!!!

Lets get this glitch fixed!!!!!!!!!!

Domo!!

Sorry for the trouble. I duplicated the problem. It is being caused by the Discussion Group software trying to authenticate usernames and passwords that were created and are managed by the Online Community software. Why it is intermittent, I do not know.

WHAT I DID:
1. I removed the log-in form within the Discussion Group. You should now log-in on the home page or via the "Register/Login" button at the very top.

2. After you login you will be redirected to the Discussion Group, instead of your Profile.

We'll try this and see how it goes. We may get some complaints from others that they are being redirected to the Discussion Group when that is not where they would like to go. I still think that being sent to your Profile is the most logical way to go, but I do understand that it requires an extra click to get to the Discussion Group from there.

Thank you, Jeff Cooper

Thanks Jeff! It only took one time to get in :)

If you get complaints because logging in take people who are not interested in or don't use the discussion group that's ok - take it back to us logging in and being sent to our profile and then we click on discussion group to get here. You are probably right when you said "I still think that being sent to your Profile is the most logical way to go.."
It won't hurt us to do that extra click.

I think the important part is only having to put the info in the sign-in part once and get signed in, not a number of times before it lets us in.

Melinda

Hi Jeff,

I had a problem for the past three days and have been unable to log in at all. I have even changed my password (several times) and it has not accepted the original password or any of the new passwords.

Finally last night I tried to log in, yet again and for some strange reason it saw fit to let me log on! Very strange!

When it let me log in finally, and I went to my profile to update my password, it would not let do so unless I also shortened my pre-existing profile information by around 300 characters, which I thought was strange as this information had been this length since changing over to the new website. Again, very strange

Has anyone else had similar problems lately?

One of the frustrating things about having problems logging in and such is that we can not communicate this, due to the fact that we can't log in!! I posted the issue on the PDSA Face Book page in the hope that someone might be able let you know. But had no response. Maybe we could use FB to give feedback about issues they are experiencing in relation to the PDSA site?

Sorry for the problems. I have not had any more log-in problems ever since I removed the log-in from the Discussion Group and made it so you have to log-in from the home page or the "Login" link at the top.

It is possible that it could be a problem caused by your Internet browser. I have tested it with Internet Explorer 8 and the latest version of Mozilla Firefox. If you have not updated your browser software lately, you could try that? Please let me know if you are using a different browser, like Google Chrome or another.

Once you request a new password, you have to log-in with that one. It will only accept the newest password that is stored in the database. Your old ones will definitely not work at that point.

About changing your password in your profile, that was a normal issue that you had. Overtime we have changed the registration requirements, so anytime you make changes in your profile it may ask you to comply with the new requirements, such as the length allowed for your description.

The Facebook page is for users only. It is not moderated by any PDSA staff. If you have a problem you can click on the "HELP" link at the top of the PDSA website and send an email to the address listed at the bottom of the page under "Technical Support". That will go to me.

Again, sorry for the problems. I hope you don't get discouraged. Technology is supposed to make our life easier, and for the most part it does in many ways. But when a website has many features and there are many different software programs and hardware configurations used to access the website, there will always be some issues that arise, unfortunately.

Thank you, Jeff Cooper

I don't go to the FB page. I went once and really got frustrated with the conversations. I don't have time to monitor that too. Vanessa - you can e-mail me at PDSAgroup@aol.com if you have any problems logging on. I can help you out from there.
